A mini sewing machine sewing a flat denim scrap does not prove that it can hem your jeans. The demanding point is often where a folded hem crosses an existing seam. That construction has to fit, feed and form a suitable stitch without forcing the needle or pulling the fabric.
Count the construction, not just the fabric name

Read advertised layer limits carefully
A claim such as “five layers” is incomplete without the material, weight, construction and test conditions. It should not be converted into five layers of denim. Likewise, a fast motor, a metal component or “heavy duty” in the title does not establish usable foot clearance and feeding at a folded join.

Know when to stop
Do not push a construction under the foot if it will not fit normally. Do not pull fabric through a reluctant feed mechanism. Needle contact with the foot or plate, repeated bending and binding are reasons to stop and reassess the setup or the machine’s suitability.
Use the needle and thread specified for the exact machine and intended material. An owner’s improvised needle or power-supply workaround is not general operating guidance. A stronger adapter is not a legitimate way to increase an unspecified machine’s capacity.
A flat denim sample is not enough to approve a jeans hem
Some light denim work may be possible on an appropriate mini, but the supplied evidence does not establish a universal layer limit or a dependable jeans-hemming recommendation. The folded intersection is the deciding part: it must fit, feed and stitch normally with the permitted needle and thread.
If denim hems are the main reason for buying, select a machine demonstrated on that complete construction. Do not buy a mini for storage convenience and expect pulling the fabric, forcing the foot or changing the power supply to overcome its limits.
