A buttonhole stabilizer is less eye-catching than a “free bundle,” but it gives the Necchi EX60 a more concrete buying story. The machine combines supported buttonhole sewing with pressure adjustment and automatic trimming. Evaluate those functions first, then check whether the current package contains the equipment needed to use them.
Support around the buttonhole is part of the system
The EX60 manufacturer’s instruction book, reproduced by ManualsLib, describes four buttonhole types and a stabilizer plate for the automatic buttonhole foot. The plate supports fabric during the operation; it does not eliminate the need to test the intended fabric and any interfacing.
For someone sewing shirts, blouses or other buttoned garments, that complete setup is worth confirming before comparing decorative counts. A seller should identify both the correct foot and its stabilizer. An incomplete assembly should not be valued as though every original accessory is present.
Sixty patterns include more than embellishment
The stitch range includes darning, tacking and eyelet operations as well as decorative choices. These may be useful for a sewist who alternates between repairs and garment construction. The smaller EX30 offers a different menu, so compare the operations you need rather than treating a larger number as a direct quality improvement.
Start/stop sewing, a speed slider, needle positioning and automatic thread cutting address routine handling. Presser-foot pressure remains a separate adjustment from thread tension. Knowing which control affects which part of the process is more valuable than assuming the machine makes every setup decision.
Read the knee-lifter qualification literally
The manual qualifies its knee-lifter instructions as applying only to applicable models. That wording should not be converted into a blanket promise that every EX60 offer includes a compatible knee lever. Ask the seller to confirm the exact machine and supplied part, ideally with a current photograph of the connection and lever.
A large extension table is also described in the book, but its presence in a particular bundle needs confirmation. List the table, feet and other equipment separately on the quote. Historical “free accessories” wording does not establish either current availability or a meaningful discount.
Demonstrate a garment task, then a repair task
On stabilized scrap, make one complete buttonhole and inspect the finished result. Then select the repair operation that attracted you to the larger stitch menu. Follow the prescribed foot and setup rather than improvising from a similar-looking pattern. Check that the cutter and speed adjustment respond consistently during ordinary sewing.
These proposed samples are a way to evaluate suitability, not a claim that the EX60 has passed our own test. Choose it when the supported buttonhole workflow and wider utility menu answer real project needs, and when the seller resolves the package and service questions before purchase.
